Earlier, CBSE clarified that it had set various sets of question paper to avoid leakage. However, few students who felt disappointed with the difficulty level in vernacular languages claimed that NEET was a national level entrance examination and it is the responsibility of the government to frame a uniform question paper.

Recently, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar confirmed that there will be a uniform question for NEET-UG 2018 examination. CBSE will frame the question paper in the English language that will be translated into Hindi as well as other vernacular languages. NEET-UG 2018 will also take place in Urdu.

The issue related to difficulty level in vernacular languages started in West Bengal initially. Students who took the examination in Bengali medium were enraged with the higher difficulty level. The similar issue was also raised in Gujarat where Gujarati medium students filed a petition in the High Court over the difficulty level. In Tamil Nadu, English medium students claimed that the question paper in Tamil medium was easier than the English medium.
