On July 14, 2017, the Supreme Court of India declined to nullify the NEET-UG 2017 results. The apex court of India delivered its decision in the favour of students. The panel of judges commented that it would be tough to disrupt the ongoing admission process. The court does not want to put the career of 6.11 lakh candidates at stake. The court was reluctant to pass the interim order and indicated that the admission must continue without any disruption. The court declined to accept the submission of petitions that sought to nullify the examination and conduct re-examination.

Solicitor of CBSE, Mr. Maninder Singh argued against the case stating that the exam was conducted in eight vernacular languages besides English and Hindi. The level of difficulty was almost same in all the languages. He further submitted that the board prepared two sets of question papers. This year, around 1.48 lakh aspirants took NEET-UG 2017 examination in vernacular languages and the board did not maintain uniform question paper just to avoid leakage.

However, the counsel for petitioners argued that there should not be all-India ranking when CBSE failed to maintain uniform question paper. The policy adopted by the board is completely unfair.

The counselling process for NEET-UG 2017 has started, and most of the states have also declared the state-level ranks or merit list.
