NEET-UG 2017 to be conducted in Ten Languages, Urdu Excluded
Holding NEET in regional languages will help the aspirants who are from the non-English background.
The notification for NEET-UG 2017 examination was announced on January 31, 2017, and the online registrations have also been commenced. This year, NEET will be conducted in two more additional languages, i.e., Kannada and Oriya. However, Urdu is excluded from NEET. Usually, CBSE conducts NEET in eight languages, and from this year it will be conducted in ten languages. Holding NEET in regional languages will help the aspirants who are from the non-English background.

It is expected that around 10 lakh students are going to appear for NEET-UG 2017. The examination will take place in 80 cities across India. However, the exclusion of Urdu from NEET did not go well with Students' Islamic Organization (SIO) of India. Initially, the issue has been raised in Maharashtra where there are around 168 Urdu schools. Later, the issue has been supported by SIO of India, and now they are going to approach Supreme Court on February 1, 2017, seeking inclusion of Urdu in NEET.

On the other hand, the number of NEET attempts has been capped to three, and the candidates who took AIPMT thrice earlier are not allowed to take NEET-UG 2017.
The government of Tamil Nadu is figuring out all the possible measures to exclude itself from NEET. According to sources, the government is planning to pass legislation as professional education is one of the subjects of Concurrent List which means both central and state government are allowed to make amendments to it.
