NEET UG 2022 Controversy: Mix Up of Hindi & English Medium Question Paper at Rajasthan Centre

NEET UG 2022 exams were recently conducted on July 17, 2022. The exams were conducted across multiple cities in India as well as abroad. The mode of examination was pen and paper-based. However, at an exam centre in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, candidates had to face a mix-up of the question paper, requiring them to attempt the question paper twice. The NEET 2022 Question Paper for Hindi medium and English medium were mixed up. Candidates claim that they were asked to write the question paper twice. Although they were given extra time to complete the exam, the Superintendent of the particular exam centre in concern submitted a report suggesting a re-test to the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Candidates and parents who appeared in the exam centre are opposing the report. The NEET aspirants gathered in front of the exam centres today, July 18, 2022, early in the morning protesting the matter. As a statement a candidate who appeared for the NEET UG 2022 exams in the particular exam centre of Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, Akshita Garg, after 2 hours 30 minutes passed from the start of the exam, the officials informed the candidates of the mix-up and asked them to write the exam all over again. She stated that the officials said that they were given the bilingual question paper meant for the Hindi Medium candidates and they were given the question paper for the English Medium candidates. They had already completed the exam within 2 hours and 30 minutes, and writing the exams all over again was not fair. Later, they were not asked to carry the question paper along with them. The NEET UG 2022 exams at this centre concluded at 6:00 pm on July 17, 2022, making parents and students agitated.

The Factual report submitted by the Superintendent of the Army Public School exam centre states that around 936 candidates appeared for the NEET 2022 exams, out of which 238 c candidates were from Hindi medium and the rest from English medium. The matter was brought to notice when Hindi medium candidates complained of the OMR sheet being in English. The matter was taken care of immediately but some of the OMR sheets were replaced with photocopied sheets, and so the candidates from the particular exam centre should be asked for re-examination.   

As soon as the matter of the mix-up got out, the law enforcement and faculty members had to stand up to keep the matter under control. They had to stay till late Sunday evening to hold the peace. SDO, Sriganganagr, Manoj Kumar Meena also reached the spot to take control of the matter. The officials at the exam centre called the NTA with the matter that it cannot be resolved anymore since it was already too late and suggested a re-examination only for the exam centre code 392501 to be conducted.
