NEET UG 2025: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is likely to introduce changes in the NEET UG 2025 exam pattern, mode and many other aspects in the aftermath of the paper leak along with the controversies associated with the exam. These changes will be done on recommendations by the ISRO chief R. Radhakrishnan committee. The education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has proposed that if necessary, the exam will be done completely online. NEET UG 2025 will likely take place on May 4, 2025, and the official announcement for the same will be done in the first or second week of December 2024.

List of Changes Proposed for NEET UG 2025

Former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan headed a seven member expert committee comprising education and technical experts to assess the NTA's role in conducting NEET UG and have provided solutions to prevent cheating and paper leaks. Randeep Guleria, B. J. Rao, Ramamurthy K., Pankaj Bansal, Aditya Mittal and Govind Jaiswal are other committee members. The committee has proposed multiple major reforms for the upcoming NEET UG 2025: -

1. Hybrid & Online Exam Modes

• Online examinations wherever possible.
• A hybrid model is proposed which allows exam papers to be sent digitally, and students need to write answers on paper in the case that it is not possible to conduct fully online exams.

2. Multiple Stage Examination

• To make the management and evaluation of applicants more manageable and effective, a two stage NEET UG exam based on the JEE pattern will likely be conducted

3. Increase in Staff for NTA

• Organising and managing the exam in a better way by hiring more permanent staff instead of relying on temporary workers. 

4. Enhanced Security in Data

• More control over exam centers so that there’s less dependence on outsourced centers and thus exam data is being more secured.

5. Mitigating Risks of Paper Leaks

• To increase security and avoid leaks, question papers will be transmitted digitally and be released last minute.

6. Less Number of Attempts

• Proposing capping the number of attempts in the NEET UG, as an attempt to encourage preparation in a serious way and ensure fairness.

NEET UG 2025 Expected Dates
