NEET 2021 is the only exam for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and B.VSc admissions in India. With an aim to improve the standard of medical education in India, the union government had implemented NEET UG for all these courses. Now, NTA has to implemented NEET UG for B.Sc Nursing admissions in India, and the aim is to improve the quality of Nursing education.

B.Sc Nursing admissions in India are being carried out by states independently as per the rules of Indian Nursing Council. Various states enroll students in B.Sc Nursing course on the basis of merit, i.e., marks scored in Class 12. Only a few states conduct state-level entrance test for B.Sc Nursing admissions. A centralized counselling is being conducted for B.Sc Nursing admissions and seats are allocated as per merit.

B.Sc (H) Nursing Eligibility 2021

The eligibility for B.Sc (H) Nursing eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Candidates willing to take admission into BSc (Nursing) must have attained 17 years as of December 31, 2021, and must have passed class 12 with physics, chemistry, biology (PCB), and English.
  • Must have obtained a minimum of 45 percent marks in PCB.
  • Those from state open schools recognised by the state government and the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) having passed with science subjects and English are also eligible to apply for BSc Nursing. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, or OBC must have obtained 40 percent in PCB. English is a compulsory subject.

An official notification regarding the implementation for NEET UG for B.Sc Nursing admissions will be released if the Nursing Council approves the same. Therefore, students need not worry as of now.

Pros and Cons of NEET 2021 for B.Sc (H) Nursing Admissions 2021

There are pros and cons of introducing NEET UG for B.Sc Nursing admissions. The standard of Nursing education in India will improve and the country will have skilled and qualified professionals in the field of Nursing. On the other hand, students who do not get admission in MBBS/ BDS/ B.V.Sc on the basis of NEET UG rank prefer B.Sc Nursing/ B.Sc Paramedical courses. These two courses are serving as options for many students, and implementation of NEET UG will be a bane to such students.

At present, MBBS/ BDS/ AYUSH/ B.V.Sc seats are being filled in two categories - All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota. If NEET UG is implemented for B.Sc Nursing admissions, the seats available in all nursing colleges across the country are expected to be filled under AIQ and state quota. More details regarding the same will be updated here as and when the proposal is confirmed.
