The central government informed the Supreme Court that it would conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test in Urdu from 2018. Urdu will be included as one of the languages in NEET. The centre further clarified that it never opposed holding NEET in Urdu. It did not include Urdu in NEET 2017, due to the lack of time and feasibility. In April 2017, the Supreme Court of India directed CBSE to conduct NEET in the Urdu language. However, CBSE informed that it was difficult to include Urdu in NEET. Students Islamic Organisation or SIO filed a plea to include the language in the medical entrance exam in February 2017. With the submission made by the centre, the apex court disposed the appeal.
