The minister also said that cutting across party line he will hold a workshop with all the Members of Parliament (MPs) on 10th November to discuss education-related issues and all the suggestions they have received. He also welcomed those who have an expertise in the field.

It was Jairam Ramesh who had mooted the idea of holding a workshop with the MPs during the last discussion on Education Policy. The minister also said that his ministry is in touch with Niti Aayog and will take a final decision on the education policy only after analysing all the aspects. The new education policy is aimed at bringing changes in the structure of education system of India from primary to higher education.

The move was initiated during the tenure of Smriti Irani - the previous HRD Minister. But it came under controversy after a number of suggestions were made by RSS. Most of the suggestions were found to be regressive by educationists. After Javadekar assumed charge as an education minister, he initiated the process of a discussion on the policy. September 30 was the last date for submitting the suggestions.
