The new exam pattern for the class 10 and class 12 board 2020 has brought cheer among the students. However, the experts are of the view that the change in the exam pattern will make it hard for the students in the long run.

The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has revamped the exam pattern of Class 10 and Class 12. The new exam pattern will come into effect from 2020. As per sources, the new exam pattern will majorly focus on testing the analytical abilities of students and reduce the scope of rote learning.

The internal assessment will be of 20 per cent of the total marks, and the science and arts subjects will carry the same weight.The paper pattern will also be changed, and the board will put emphasise more on objective questions.

The board is also focusing on the early completion of CBSE board exams by conducting exams for vocational subjects in February. If the board exams conclude early, it will be possible for CBSE to declare the results early. At present, CBSE is declaring Class 12 results in the last week of May/ first week of June.

CBSE Expected Changes in Class 10 & Class 12 Board Exams Pattern:

The following are some of the changes that CBSE is going to implement in the exam pattern of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams: -

  • The board exam question papers will be more problem solving and analytical.
  • The exams will focus on measuring critical thinking of the candidates.
  • The questions will be more short and direct.
  • Exams for vocational subjects will be conducted in February.
  • The exams for main subjects will end in March.
  • CBSE will devote more time for evaluation of answer scripts to ensure error-free evaluation process.
  • CBSE results will be declared earlier.

The above-mentioned changes are still under discussion, and the final call is yet to be taken.

CBSE New Bylaws:

Apart from the changes in the exam pattern, CBSE has also submitted a new Bylaws for the approval of the HRD Ministry. The changes proposed by CBSE are: -

  • CBSE affiliation and renewal of affiliation to schools will be based on the academic quality of the institutions.
  • State education departments are responsible for inspecting infrastructure in schools.
  • The affiliation process has been simplified and shortened.

Parents Opinion on CBSE New Exam Pattern:

Parents and Principals of State Board Schools are of the view that CBSE students will secure more marks with the introduction new changes in CBSE and state board students will be the one who will suffer.According to the parents, state board students could be at disadvantage when applying for further studies where admissions will be done on the basis of previous year's merit.
