New Grading System Introduced by NAAC for Delhi University
DU colleges from now on will be graded on a seven point scale.
A new grading system has been introduced for Delhi University colleges by the NAAC i.e. National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Colleges that come under DU are giving mixed signals regarding the new policy. Under the new update, there is a seven-point scale and not four-point scale. From now on following grades will be used to grade an institute instead of A, B, C or D.
- A++
- A+
- A
- B++
- B+
- B
- C
- D

Colleges or Institutes can now achieve only 4.0 as the highest CGPA i.e. Cumulative Grade Point Average. If an institute or college is given a CGPA of 1.50 then it will be graded D and will no longer be accredited by NAAC. If an institute/colleges get C, B, B+, B++, A, A+, A++ then they will be safe. Rating will be given on the basis of services provided by the institute/colleges and on reviews of the alumni. Some colleges have made an online questionnaire so it is easy for the alumnus to access and fill it. In the questionnaire, following questions are asked.
- How satisfied they are with the progress they have made in their careers
- The effectiveness of college in providing the ability to think critically
- Ability to become a good citizen and cope with ethical challenges
- Ability to write well
- Ability to use the computer
- Ability to be productive and be a team leader
- Things you wish were available in the institute
The basic idea behind this whole activity is to reach out to the successful alumni of the college and to showcase the achievements of the students who have been part of the institute or college.
