Two New IISER Campuses to be Set Up in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh
Cabinet has given the green signal for the establishment of two new IISER campuses. The construction work will be completed by 2021 for both the campuses.
The Union Cabinet has given its approval for the establishment of two new Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Berhampur (Odisha) and Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh). As per the reports, the construction of both the campuses will be completed by December 2021 and the total cost incurred will be around Rs.3074.12 crore.
Apart from this, two Registrar posts have also been approved, one in each IISER. The construction of both the institutes will be done in the area of over 1,17,000 sqm. It will include complete infrastructural facilities such as hostels, libraries, and others for around 18,000 students.

The main agenda behind the establishment of the two new IISER is to provide more and more students with quality science education at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and at the doctoral level. It will also offer integrated Ph.D. courses.

They will also conduct research in frontier areas of science which will ultimately help the country to become a knowledge economy. It will help in attracting the best scientific talent from across the country and strengthening the scientific manpower in India.
The already established IISER in Pune, Bhopal and other locations offer many dual degree programmes, integrated Ph.D. programmes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Science, Environmental Science etc.
