It is good news for the students who aspire to pursue their education from Delhi. The national capital is going to get two new universities soon. Currently, Delhi University has almost 77 affiliated colleges and 5 other institutions with an enrollment of about 1,32,000 regular students and 2,61,000 non-formal students. Apart from the Delhi University, Indraprastha University, Jamia Milia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University are the ones who enrol the majority of students.

With an aim to give students more options to study in Delhi, the Delhi government has come up with the proposal to establish two new universities in Delhi. This can be considered to be a leap towards strengthening the infrastructure of higher education in the national capital.

Keeping the Budget share for the education sector over 25% for 2019-2020 in mind, the Finance Minister Mr. Manish Sisodia said that the University of Applied Science would change the perspectives of people towards the professional courses. He also said that the university would offer a wide range of courses up to Ph.D. level.

The second proposed varsity is supposed to impart education for teachers’ training.

The Delhi government has also decided to add 'Entrepreneurship' in the curriculum of various courses. It will encourage students to start their own venture in future.
