NIBM Sees 145 Percent Increase in International Participants
The number of international participants has increased significantly in the National Institute of Bank Management in the past five years. The diversity in programmes and courses offered at the institute attracts students from all over the world.
The National Institute of Bank Management, Pune experienced an increase of 145 percent in the number of international participants within a period of five years. In the financial year of 2014-2015, there were 433 international participants at the university for its several training courses and the number increased to 1064 participants in the year 2018-2019.
As per the officials, 192 training programmes were conducted by the institute in the last fiscal and 3,922 participants attended them. Over 27 percent of these 3,922 participants were from overseas. They represented around 153 central banks, financial institutions, commercial banks, universities and government departments from 51 countries. Countries from the Middle East, SAARC, East Asia, South East Asia, East Africa, West Africa, Central American countries and Commonwealth of Independent States were also included.

An official said that the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM) is one of the top institutions and has received the approval of the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India. This approval enables the institute to conduct various training courses under the ITEC programmes of the Ministry of External Affairs.
The National Institute of Bank Management conducted different courses on subjects such as International Programme on Corporate Governance, International Programme on Role and Functioning of Central Bank, leadership for top executives from the financial system, International Programme on Asset-Liability Management, International Programme in Banking and Finance with a focus on Credit and International Trade Financing, etc.

This diversity attracted participants from all around the world and hence, the number of participants at NIBM kept increasing every year.
