NIOS and State Health Society Sign MoU
NIOS under the MHRD and National Health Mission, Public health department, the government of Maharashtra has signed an MoU on 7th May in Mumbai. This MoU will offer vocational courses to the health providers of NHM.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) under the MHRD and National Health Mission, Public health department, the government of Maharashtra has signed an MoU on 7th May at Arogya Bhavan, Mumbai.
This MoU will look at offering vocational courses to the health providers of National Health Mission (NHM) through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The idea is to give structured and quality training to multipurpose health workers, community health workers and class III male health workers, followed by their evaluation, certification, and assessment. In addition to this, senior secondary, secondary, vocational education and community health workers certification process will be done for ASHAs. NIOS will also look at developing customised courses and training programs for NHM as per the need.

NIOS is an institute under the department of school education and literacy, MHRD, government if India, and it is seen as the world’s largest open school system which has an enrolment of more than 4.5 million learners.
It enrolls, trains and certifies learners via open and distance mode. In the year 2018-19, NIOS engaged in the world’s largest in-service elementary teacher training program. It was also responsible for conducting skill development by offering more than 100 vocational courses in different fields.

The Chairman of NIOS, CB Sharma, Regional Director, Saumya Rajan, Commissioner health service Anup Kumar Yadava, Secretary Anjani Kumar and Additional Director NHM Mumbai, Dr.Satish Pawar were all present on the occasion.
