NIT-K Expects 250 Companies for Campus Hiring

<p>Last month around 125 companies visited the campus of NIT- Karnataka and about 250 companies are expected to throng the campus to hire the best of students.
In the last two months these companies recruited nearly 540 students, comprising both graduates and postgraduates.

"Companies flock to NIT-Karnataka because of our alumni, who have been working in these firms and doing excellent work. The highest salary package per annum offered so far are from Code Nation, Bengaluru (Rs 24 lakh), Adobe and Practo Tech (Rs 20 lakh), followed by software giant Microsoft (Rs 18 lakh). The minimum package is Rs3.3 lakh,&rdquo; said a professor in-charge, training and placement, NIT-Karnataka.

It I to be noted that last year, Japan-based work application offered Rs 35 lakh to a candidate. Compared to post graduates, graduates students are offered less salary package. Students have to sign in a bond sometime with these companies for one or two years. The recruitment process, commence in the beginning of the final year.
"The second interview round for internet giant Google is in process; three students have been shortlisted. They may be offered a better package. Three years ago, Facebook made it way to the campus, but hasn't turned up in the recent years. The highest numbers of students recruited are from computer science, and 25 have been placed this year. The work locations are either in India or aboard,&rdquo; said the same professor in charge in training and placement.

"An invitation is sent to the former recruiters in May. Along with the invitation, a form is provided, seeking the company profile and information. After approval from the companies, a schedule is prepared. The date of visit is intimated to the companies in June. On the allotted day, the company visits the campus, makes pre-placement talk, conducts tests and interviews and selects the candidates,&rdquo; explained another official in charge of the placement and recruitments.
