A student of National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar, turned out to be the only Indian selected for UK's prestigious Schmidt McArthur fellowship. Among the 12 students selected across the globe from various design, management and technology schools, Bhaskar Das, a postgraduate student of NID is the only Indian.
For the same, Das will go to London. The fellowship is an international programme on the circular economy for postgraduates studying Design, Engineering and Business.
Das said that he has submitted a 90-second-video on how a system can be designed taking circular economy as baseline. Later on, he was interviewed and selected from 50 students globally shortlisted for the fellowship.
"I will go to London in June, where I am supposed to work on designing a model for 100 international companies working in circular economy," he said, adding that he will have to submit a project on circular economy at the end of the fellowship.
His mentor, Mr. Pravin Nahar, faculty of Industrial Design in NID will accompany him. "This is the 4th year of the fellowship. NID is the first institute from this part of the world to be inducted into the fellowship," Nahar said.
