Niti Aayog Recruits IIM Calcutta Students for New Initiative
- Niti Aayog hired five students from IIM Calcutta during the summer placement drive.
- The students will be working with the government thinktank after completing their first year.
- These students will be reporting to the Atal Innovation Mission.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta, has recently wrapped up its summer placement process. Amongst the recruiters that participated in the hiring process at IIM Calcutta this year was Niti Aayog. This was the first time that the government thinktank recruited students from the prestigious management institute.
Niti Aayog hired a total of five students from IIM Calcutta for the two-month internship programme. Students hired by the firm said that they are eager to work with the government subsidiary after the completion of their first year.
Although the students are looking at this internship as a learning experience, they are hoping to get a position with Niti Aayog after they complete their programmes at IIM Calcutta.

Vishva Prakash, one of the five students who was recruited by the Niti Aayog said that students have a keen interest in public policy. He also added that working with Niti Aayog is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Ankit Upadhayaya, another student who will be joining Niti Aayog as an intern next year, said that it is much similar to a venture capitalist's job. The five students will be reporting to the Atal Innovation Mission, directed by R Ramanan, who also delivered a pre-placement talk at IIM-Calcutta.

Goldman Sachs, Uber, Boston Consulting Group and Coke were some of the other popular companies that participated in IIM Calcutta Summer Placement. A total of 188 job offers were rolled out at the institute recording 41% of the batch’s students being placed.
