NLSIU to Conduct its Own Entrance Test for 2020 Admissions
NLSIU has released a notification saying it will not accept CLAT 2020 for its admissions for the academic session 2020-21. NLU Bangalore will conduct its own entrance exam called NLAT UG and NLAT PG.
The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) has declared that it will not consider the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for its admissions of the academic session 2020-21. NLU Bangalore will be conducting its own entrance exam called the National Law Aptitude Test (NLAT) in order to shortlist candidates for its UG and PG law programmes. The application process of NLAT 2020 has commenced from September 3, 2020, and will go on till September 10, 2020. NLAT 2020 will be held on September 12, 2020. It will be an online exam that students will give from their home. NLAT 2020 will be conducted as an RPT (Remote Proctored Test).
CLAT 2020 has been postponed several times due to the coronavirus situation in the country. This has caused a huge delay in the admission process of all the National Law Universities (NLUs) that accept CLAT for their admissions. NLSIU is at a bigger disadvantage due to this as the law school follows a trimester system which means it has three terms in a year unlike most of the other NLUs which follow a semester system, having two terms annually. As per the notification released, if NLU Bangalore is unable to complete its admissions in the month of September, it will have to declare this as a 'Zero Year'.
NLSIU will organise two exams, one each for its bachelor and masters programmes. NLAT UG will be conducted for students who wish to enrol in the integrated law course of BA LL.B and NLAT PG will be held for LL.M (Master of Law) admissions at NLU Bangalore. NLAT 2020 will be conducted in three shifts and a procedure of normalisation will be used for scoring candidates. The candidates can find all the details regarding NLAT 2020 here.
