Project 39A and the Centre for Communication Governance (CCG) at the National Law University (NLU) Delhi have initiated online forensics, mental health, and technology law and policy courses. In collaboration with Eleos Justice at Monash Law School in Australia, NLU Delhi's Project 39A has launched two new online forensics and mental health courses.

The courses 'Decoding Forensics for Legal Professionals' and 'Forensic Mental Health and Criminal Justice' focus on teaching students about the use and limitations of forensic science in criminal law and the significance of mental disability in the criminal justice system.

Maitreyi Misra, who is part of the founding team of Project 39A, mentions that they became aware of the barriers that a lack of interdisciplinary learning was creating for law students and practitioners during the period of their work. She further adds that the courses have been designed with the objective of getting the different fields to speak to each other, rather than at each other in the courtroom. She says that we have forensic psychiatrists and forensic scientists speaking to lawyers and the law, which enhances the learning experience but also has real-world consequences in terms of the application to legal practice.

In addition to online courses in forensics and mental health, the Centre for Communication Governance (CCG) introduced the first edition of the Technology Law and Policy certificate program.

The training includes current topics such as:

  • Information technology and cyber laws
  • Intellectual property and technology
  • Privacy and data protection
  • Emerging technology
  • Platform governance
  • Cybersecurity and Information security
  • Competition law and technology

The Director of CCG, Daniel Mathew, added that the course is intended to help students understand the legal, public policy, sociopolitical contours of cyberspace, and technology law and policy and their implications for our society. The purpose is to boost the capacity of young professionals, students, and stakeholders in the technology law and policy ecosystem.
