No Physical Verification for College Admissions: West Bengal Education Minister
Students aspiring for admission in colleges can now skip the physical verification process. From next year, admissions will be done through the e-route process.
All Vice Chancellors and Registrars of universities will have to take up e-route for filling up forms, fee payments and documents verification. Students aspiring for admission in colleges can skip the physical verification process from the next year as the entire exercise will take place online, said by West Bengal Education Minister, Mr. Partha Chatterjee.
There have been incidents of irregularities in some colleges which led to concern among the parents and students, and the government does not want that situation to repeat, he stated. The TMC leader also mentioned that VCs have been asked to make sure that the process is smooth and each educational institute should choose a specific bank for its transactions.

Students will have to pay admission fee online and not at the college office counter. The minister also mentioned that the physical verification process would happen during the freshers’ welcome programme on the first day of the session.
To keep a check on the malpractices in UG course admissions, Chatterjee had said that the government would take exemplary action against those who are found guilty.

Chatterjee also asked Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad, which is the students’ wing of the ruling party to check illegal practices in the admission process. He also told the students and guardians to file a police complaint if they faced harassment by touts.
