NSS unit of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research, Nagpur has adopted statue of “Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj” at Tukdoji Square, Manewada Road, Nagpur.
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi appealed to adopt statue of the national leaders for cleanliness under “Swachh Bharat Mission”. As a part of this mission, students of Rajiv Gandhi COE Nagpur adopted the statue.
The Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj is a saint from Vidharbha also known as Rashtrasanta. He worked hard to spread awareness about education in the society all his life and known to live a very simple life.
He has written a book named "GramGita" and his name is also given to the University of Nagpur by Government in his honour.
Nagpur Mayor A NSS unit of 100 students and staff of college started cleaning the statue and surrounding premises form morning. Students removed the advertisements & sticker on the statue. Locals also joined their drive and supported them. Pravin Datke handed over the letter of guardianship of statue of “Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj” to Prof. Rohit Himte, NSS, Program officer of Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering & Research, Nagpur.
Prof. P D. Shobhane along with Student President Aman Raghuwanshi, Vice President Aditya Mitkari, Treasurer Shankit Kamble and their team worked hard for the success of the program.
