NSUI Maneuvers to Gather Women Power for PU Student Council Elections

The National Students Union of India (NSUI) has decided to hand over the campaigning responsibility of the Panjab University Campus Student Council elections 2016 to its women wing taking note of the fact there are impressive numbers of women voters.

More than 65% of the voters in Panjab University are women adding more prominence to the cause.

NSUI’s women wing is actively organizing meetings at various departments of the university that was done by men in the previous years who are actively involved in the strategy and planning of the election campaigns.

Speculations say that the party might nominate a female presidential candidate this year besides the fact that 50% tickets have been given to girls for the elections 2016.

In 2015, woman candidates had won with flying colours despite the fact that there was a decline in voting percentage. Party leaders Lubana and Lalli are also in favor of having a girl as the presidential candidate in the upcoming student council elections.

Other student parties are still working on the same agendas as they were in the previous years. Distributing hand bands, T-shirts among supporters are the common part of campaigns other than social media campaigns.

In-charge of the North-Indian wing of ABVP, Dinesh Chauhan said that hand band and T-shirts will be given to party workers by the end of the week.

Tejinder Singh, Spokesperson, Panjab University Students’ Union (PUSU) said that visiting houses of local voters, conducting street plays as well as one on one interaction will be part of the campaigns being run for the university elections 2016.

Vicky Middukhera, Present of State, Student Organisation of India (SOI), said that new stickers will be printed for the campaigns and list of the work done by the party workers will be made for this year’s election.
