JEE Main January 2023 Result: JEE Main January 2023 Result is expected to be released online within a few hours. Candidates who have appeared for the exams from January 24th to February 1st, 2023, may access their results using their login credentials. The National Testing Agency has issued the final answer key and the response sheet on the official website for candidates to check and calculate their scores. Candidates who have objections to the answer key may raise them with the authorities directly, as the final results will be released soon. The JEE Main January 2023 Result will be released in Percentile Score and not the actual scores obtained. Also, candidates will not be allotted ranks as they will be released after the JEE Main April 2023 session is conducted.

JEE Main January 2023 Result: Normalization Policy

Candidates shall note that NTA will implement the normalization policy to declare the JEE Main January 2023 Result. The normalization policy will help the NTA to deduce to the candidates percentile scores, which is derived from a formula.

Percentile Score = 100 x (the number of students that received a score that was the same as or lower than the student) / (the total number of students that attempted that examination in that session).

The percentile score obtained by the candidate will be released in the scorecard released by NTA for JEE Main January 2023 Results for overall and subject-wise percentile.

Why is the normalization policy important for JEE Main January 2023 Result?

There is a range of reasons for which the normalization policy is the best way to release the JEE Main January 2023 Result as stated as follows:
  • JEE Main January 2023 exams were held in two shifts across multiple dates from January 24th to February 1st, 2023. The questioning pattern and difficulty level of each section for each shift are different. And to provide equal grounds, NTA will apply the normalization policy.
  • Also, the exam has been conducted across the entire country in various exam centres as well as in international cities. So, to maintain uniformity and equal opportunity to all, a normalization policy is essential.
  • Further, the normalization policy will deduce the percentile score of the candidate and not the actual obtained score, which makes an even ground for all candidates.
  • Candidates who are not satisfied with their percentile score may also prepare to appear for JEE Main April 2023 session, as the best of the two will be considered for the JEE Main 2023 Ranks.
  • The JEE Main 2023 Rank will only be given after the April session is conducted and NTA applies the normalization policy to declare the final ranks. Based on the ranks, cutoffs for admissions will be released.
