NTA which will be conducting the NEET 2020 exam has released a notification, following the queries raised regarding the All India Quota under the NEET 2020 application form. Candidates are informed that they are eligible for the quota irrespective of the choice filled in.
Following a series of queries raised by NEET 2020 applicants with respect to filling the choice under “State of Eligibility” (for All India Quota of 15%), NTA has released a notification clarifying the doubts. As per the notification, all NEET applicants are eligible for the All India Quota of 15% irrespective of the choice filled in by them.
As per the statements in the notification, NEET 2020 candidates can choose any State/UT, for instance, State or UT from where they cleared their qualifying exam or even their Home State or UT, against the State of Eligibility Choice.
The exception to this Quota is only applicable to the recently converted Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh. NEET 2020 aspirants from these two Union Territories will not be eligible for the All India Quota of 15% as previously, the state of Jammu and Kashmir had opted out of the All India Quota.
For J&K NEET 2020 aspirants, an online Self-Declaration application must be submitted online, if they wish to claim eligibility. The online self-declaration form will be generated automatically along with a confirmation page, which will be held on record. J&K candidates claiming eligibility will be required to take a printout of the same and present the application along with the confirmation page during the counselling or admission process.
