Odisha Central University Launches Helpline for Student Counselling
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has launched a helpline for counseling of those students of the Central University of Odisha who are in mental distress due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has launched a helpline for counselling of the Central University of Odisha students who are going through stress and anxiety due to the Outbreak of COVID-19. The counselling helpline "Bharosa" was launched by him through video conference. The main objective of the helpline is to provide psychological and mental assistance to the students of the university in this dark hour.
Addressing the mental health concern of the students and to ease out the stress is of great importance as they are worried about their future due to the uncertainty. The helpline number is 08046801010. HRD Minister has urged all the state and central universities/ colleges/ institutes of higher education across the country to come up with these initiatives and to provide them with cognitive emotional rehabilitation services. Students are worried about the uncertainty as most of the exams are postponed and the fresh dates are not out yet.
State Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo appreciated the efforts of the varsity and hoped that this will help the students to sail through tough times. Students are hit with uncertainty as most of the exams being cancelled.Dr. Meena Hariharan, President, Association of Health Psychologists, has partnered with the Central University of Odisha to launch the helpline.
