Common PG Entrance Test - Odisha government is planning to conduct a single common entrance test for PG (Post Graduate) admissions in all state-level universities. This will reduce the burden on universities and students as well. Through this decision, students will be refrained from applying for multiple entrance exams for PG admissions. At the same time, universities will be refrained from conducting individual counselling/ admission process for PG admissions.
Higher Education Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Arun Kumar Sahoo revealed that the final decision on the single PG common entrance test would be taken only after holding a discussion with VCs of state universities. This year, it has become a challenge for the Higher Education Department to hold the entrance exam due to Coronavirus outbreak.
A common entrance test for PG admission in all state universities will be beneficial to students in terms of preparation. Students can just prepare for one entrance exam. The seat allotment will be based on candidate’s performance in the entrance test, preference and availability of seats.
Once the Higher Education Department confirms PG common entrance test, the same will be intimated to students. On the other hand, the semester exams in all the universities and colleges have been postponed due to the ongoing situation. Schools, universities and colleges in Odisha will be shut until June 17, 2020, and the pending exams will be conducted only after that.
