This new programme of legal studies at Jindal Global Law School has been started in an attempt to democratize the study of law so that it can be made accessible to all the students, irrespective of their academic stream of high school. The Vice-Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, C. Raj Kumar, gave a statement to the press regarding this new venture. He said that the new undergraduate programme in law is aimed at fulfilling the most prominent gap in the Indian higher education system. The course is built on the efforts of the education system of high school in India. Upon completion of the B.A. (honours) programme, the students who opt for this undergraduate degree in legal studies will have the option of pursuing the course of Bachelor of Law (L.L.B.). In this way, they can build a stronger background to become a lawyer. C. Raj Kumar further said that being a part of the Jindal Global Law School, the students of B.A. Legal Studies will get the opportunities to experience the short term programmes of study abroad that are held at the University of Oxford, Harvard University, Fletcher School-Tufts University etc. Apart from that, the students will also benefit from the exchange programmes that JGU has established around the world with some top universities globally like the University of Arizona.
