Osmania University’s Arts College Inaugurates Women Empowerment Cell
- College of Arts and Social Sciences at Osmania University has set up a separate Women Empowerment Cell.
- Convenor Professor Surya Dhanunjay detailed the goals and objectives of the Cell. Over 200 students attended the inaugural function.
The girl students of Osmania University’s College of Arts and Social Sciences have got a new and separate ‘Women Empowerment Cell’. The inauguration of the Cell took place on March 07, 2018. First Women Registrar of OU (former), Professor Beena Chintalapuri inaugurated the Cell and interacted with the girl students of Arts College.
Primarily, Professor Beena wished the students a happy ‘International Women’s Day’. She urged the students to be sensitive towards the environment and opportunities.

Sharing details about her research programme, Professor Been explained that she had visited prisons to understand the cognitive behavioural aspects. She enlightened the students to be brave in all aspects of life.
Senior Manager at Andhra Bank (Hyderabad), Indira Ramachandram congratulated the varsity for setting a separate cell for women. She further indicated that the empowerment of women starts at home, which means that it is the responsibility of women to teach children to respect women. Today, women are enjoying an equal status in the society at par with men. Women are capable of becoming successful entrepreneurs, teachers, lawyers, doctors etc., and the society needs the same, she motivated.

The world celebrated International Women’s Day on March 08. Once upon a time, Indian women did not enjoy respectable and equal status in the society. They were always confined to the house and lacked basic education. Thanks to the social reformers like Kandukuri Veeresalingam, Ragupati Venkata Ratnam Naidu, Gurajada Apparao, Raja Ram Mohan Roy and others who played a vital role in achieving equal status for the women in the society.
