Osmania University Notifies PhD Admissions After 3-Year Gap
Currently, the cut-off marks for are fixed at 40 for General category, 35 for BC and 30 for SC/ST.
Osmania University (OU) has renotified the PhD admission notification giving a sigh of relief to the candidates who have been waiting for three years. As per the notification, the last date for the admission into PhD 2013-14 is November 16, 2016.
A total number of 6,747 students out of 10,828 applicants qualified the admission test for PhD programme for the academic session 2013-14. The results were declared in June 2015. However, the admission process was postponed due to protests by the candidates who demanded reduction in minimum qualifying marks by five for all categories.

Suresh Kumar, Registrar of Osmania University, explained that the university had to halt the admission process after the High Court had issued an interim order following the notification issued by OU in the month of May. The varsity reduced qualifying marks by 10 in all categories following the High Court order.
In the year 2014, the cut-off marks for research courses at OU were fixed at 40 for SC/ST, 45 for BC and 50 for General category. Currently, the cut-off marks for are fixed at 40 for General category, 35 for BC and 30 for SC/ST.
As per the official notification issued by OU, the candidates with a research fellowship in a national level test like UGC-NET, ICMR and CSIR-NET can apply for PhD programmes under category-1.
On the other hand, the candidates with fellowships from national level bodies who qualified in National Eligibility Test (NET) or State Eligibility Test (SET) or PhD eligibility test conducted by Osmania University from Telangana or Andhra Pradesh during January 2015 too can apply for the PhD programme under category-2.
