Osmania University Plans to Set-up International School of Journalism
Apart from International School of Journalism, the varsity is planning to set up Dr. Ambedkar Research Centre, Centre for Telangana Studies and Skill Development Centre.
Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, Prof. Ramachandram revealed that the varsity has plans to start an International School of Journalism to mark the centenary year of the varsity. It is one of the flagship initiatives among others during the centenary year.
The VC made this announcement at an ‘Interactive Meet with Editors’ at Centre for International Programmes, Osmania University on March 7, 2017. He further added that apart from the International School of Journalism, the varsity is also planning to set up Dr. Ambedkar Research Centre, Centre for Telangana Studies and Skill Development Centre.

He further added that the proposal for the establishment of International School of Journalism was made by Department of Communication and Journalism. The objective of the department is to impart training to students from Mid-East and Afro-Asian countries.
Prof. Ramachandram pointed that the varsity has the sizeable presence of foreign students and the proposed International School of Journalism will not only boost the global outreach of the varsity but also fetch revenue.
The centenary year would focus on bolstering university-industry linkages, better research culture, good governance, strengthening infrastructure and academic reforms. With an objective to ensure the smooth conduct of centenary celebrations, the varsity will take all the stakeholders into confidence.

He further explained that two generations of Nizam family would take part in the centenary celebrations. On the other hand, all the colleges affiliated to Osmania University have been directed to conduct various events throughout the year to mark the centenary year. As a part of centenary celebrations, a centenary run will take place on March 11, 2017, and Governor of the state, ESL Narasimhan will flag it off.
The inauguration of centenary celebrations will take place on April 26, 2017. President of India, Pranab Mukherjee is likely to inaugurate the centenary fete of Osmania University.
