Osmania University Receives Rs. 8 Crore Grant from DST
Osmania University is one among the 14 universities in India that were selected for the second phase of PURSE scheme. The research and development activity being carried out by faculty, scholars, and students of Osmania University is reaping good results.
The performance of Osmania University in terms of research is impressive, and the research and development activity being carried out by faculty, scholars, and students are reaping good/ positive results. Osmania University also has its research publications in international journals. Impressed with the performance of Osmania University in research and development, DST (Department of Science and Technology) has granted Rs. 8.1 crore under the second phase of PURSE (Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence).
Osmania University is one among the 14 universities in India to be selected for the second phase of PURSE. The varsity has constantly been maintaining its dominance in research publications and h-index. H-Index measures both impact of a researcher and scientific production.

Under the first phase of the PURSE scheme, Osmania University had secured 59 projects with the financial assistance of up to Rs. 6 crores. While working on these projects, the scholars and faculty of OU had published their research in 110 journals such as Journal of Alloys, Journal of fluorescence and Plosone. Recognising its work in research and publications, DST has allocated 63 projects. The details of the projects bagged by OU are elaborated below.
Projects Bagged by Osmania University under PURSE Scheme
Osmania University has bagged projects in varied disciplines under PURSE scheme. They are –
- Three projects under Digital Bharat
- Four Projects in Swachh Bharat
- Eight Projects in Start-Up India
- 24 Projects in Swastha Bharat
- 24 Projects under Make in India
With the help of a grant received under the first phase of the PURSE scheme, Osmania University has set up an advanced facility for metal analysis.

The grand received under the second phase of PURSE scheme will help Osmania University for augmentation of research infrastructure. OU will further acquire research equipment, computation facilities, research workforce, and infrastructure with the financial assistance by DST.
