Osmania University Gets Approval to Set-up School of Education

OU envisages better pedagogy & research in teacher and teacher educators’ programmes. The school plans on training up to 5,000 teachers. To ensure best training, the school will be collaborating with the state as well as national-level educational bodies.

To motivate education innovation and entrepreneurship, the Osmania University of Hyderabad has decided to establish a dedicated School of Education. The school is set to be established under the Ministry of Human Resources Development and will be sponsored by Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya Mission for Teachers & Teaching.

Through thorough training, the school envisages changes in pedagogy and research in teacher and teacher educators’ programmes. The goal of the school will be training teacher & teacher educators by introducing short-term contemporary programmes. The Centre for Curriculum Research & Educational Development and the Centre for Pre-service Teachers & Professional Development will be executing the activities of the School of Education. In collaboration and coordination with the national as well as state-level educational bodies, the school plans to focus on ensuring better pedagogical interventions, preparing e-modules and enhancing curriculum for teacher education. To expand its horizon, the school is also planning on collaborating with the international institutions for educational innovation.

The proposal of establishing the School of Education was presented by the Osmania University during the 12th Project Approval Board meeting that was held recently at New Delhi. The proposal was defended by the professors of OU namely, Dr. C. Srinivasulu, Coordinator, IQAC and Prof. T. Mrunalini, Dean, Faculty of Education.

The Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, Prof. S. Ramachandran congratulated on the approval for establishing the School and opined that the school will be training about five thousand teacher & teacher educators.
