Over 2.31 Lakh Candidates Register for CAT 2017, Exam on November 26
- CAT 2017 registration window which was extended by 5 days alone received more than 20,000 applications for the MBA entrance exam.

The registration process of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 exam concluded on September 25, 2017. According to the official data disclosed by Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM Lucknow), over 2.31 lakh candidates registered for the most competitive and sought-after MBA entrance test in India. The exact figure of the number of applicants in the race of making it to the IIMs and other premier b-schools in the country will be out shortly.
No major trend change in the number of applications received for CAT 2017 has been observed as compared to the previous year. In fact, the total number of students who registered for CAT entrance test witnessed a minor dip this year. In 2016, 2,32,434 students enrolled for the Common Admission Test, that is, about 1,000 more as per the data provided this year.
Further, out of the total number of applicants last year, 67% applicants were males while the rest were female candidates. Compared to CAT 2015, there was an increase by 1% in the number of female candidates registering for CAT 2016.

IIM Lucknow, the conducting authority of CAT 2017 extended the deadline to register for CAT 2017 exam from September 20 to 25, 2017. During the extended application window of five days, around 20,000 candidates registered for the CAT exam.

Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) of the country together offer 4,000 seats based on CAT scores. Apart from IIMs, over 100 B-Schools accept CAT scores for the admission to postgraduate management programmes in India.
