Lok Sabha informed that around 700 applications for affiliation are pending with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the past six months. Upendra Kushwaha, Minister of State for Human Resource Development mentioned that the CBSE has launched an online mechanism for scrutiny and submission of affiliation applications. CBSE has been amending the affiliation-laws from time to time to make the process transparent and robust for efficient functioning.

Other efforts of CBSE towards betterment of education in the country:-

Recently, CBSE had written to University Grants Commission (UGC) requesting UGC to conduct National Eligibility Test (NET) 2017 examination. The board mentioned that it wants to work on its core areas and improve the quality of education. The board clearly indicated that holding entrance examination for various bodies is becoming a burden on CBSE. It also stated that most of the examinations that are being conducted by CBSE on behalf of UGC are out of its expertise. The board assured that it would provide technical support for exams.

CBSE has also introduced a new certificate system recently which benefits not only the students in India but also students studying abroad. For this purpose, CBSE goes online. It is in the process to introduce a system through which the certificates of previous years could be made accessible to students from any part of the globe. The new online application process is cost efficient and faster.

CBSE has also taken the initiative to allocate examination centres for class 12 students within 8 km radius of their schools. For this purpose, the board has directed all the schools to submit the details regarding facilities and infrastructure.
