Pakistani Girl Gets Medical Seat in Jaipur, Courtesy Sushma Swaraj
Union Minister Sushma Swaraj helps Mashal Maheshwari, resident of Pakistan get a medical seat.
Courtesy Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, a Pakistani girl got a seat in Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Medical College (SMS Medical College). 18 year old, Mashal Maheshwari joined the college on September 22. In a tweet, she said that she is thankful to Sushma Swaraj for giving her this chance to fulfill her dreams.
Mashal along with her family had shifted to Jaipur from Pakistan's Sindh province about two years back when there were cases of rising atrocities on Hindu minorities. Mashal’s family was given a religious visa while entering the country.
Her seat in the college was confirmed by Dr. U S Agrawal, Controller & Principal of SMS Medical College himself. However, the category under which she was admitted was not revealed to the media.

Earlier this year, Mashal had secured 91% in her Class XII CBSE exams, but could not appear for the NEET exam as she wasn't a registered Indian citizen. In a tweet to the Union minister, she explained her entire situation and received a prompt reply.
Sushma tried to cheer her by saying that she should not be disappointed about the same and guaranteed her that she will look into the matter personally and help her get admission in a medical college. After this, Maheshwari received a letter from minister’s office asking her to provide with the documents required for admission.

Soon Mashal Maheshwari got a seat in a medical college in Karnataka, however, she had requested for one either in Gujarat or Rajasthan and finally received one in Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Medical College (SMS).
Regarding her future plans, Mashal said that she wants to either become a neurologist or a cardiologist and serve India in the future.
