Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology (PIET) Hosts Smart India Hackathon 2018
- PIET was one among the 28 nodal centres in India that hosted Smart India Hackathon 2018.

Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology (PIET), Haryana is the only college in the region that had the privilege to host Smart India Hackathon 2018 from March 29 to March 31, 2018. The college was one among the 28 nodal centres in India that were selected to host the grand event. The college had hosted 36 teams with over 288 youngsters who coded continuously for 36 hours during the grand finale.
About 17 state governments and 27 central government ministries posted 408 problem statements (68 for hardware and 340 for software) to the students participating in this grand event. Over 1 lakh students registered to take part in this hackathon. Over 14,800 ideas were received from the technical institutes across the country. On the other hand, 17,400 teams and 1,296 entries comprising of 8,000 students were selected by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in the last one year.
The teams have worked on various problems and challenges posed by union and state government continuously for 36 hours from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on March 30 and March 31, 2018.
The concept of Smart India Hackathon was the vision of Honourable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi whose aim is to promote digital literacy with a motive to make development a comprehensive mass movement and place governance within everyone’s reach in India. The initiative will find immediate solutions for various challenges and problems faced by the country.
