Panjab and Birmingham Varsities Collaborate to Improve Quality of Life
Through parallel exchange visits, Birmingham researchers have been working with Panjab University and Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC).
Experts from the University of Birmingham and Panjab University are up for an initiative to improve the quality of life in the two cities and the wider world. For this purpose, both the universities have collaborated to work on a project.
Robin Mason, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Birmingham University revealed that India is a very important partner to the varsity where the researchers continue to foster strong partnerships across the globe. The main objective behind this collaboration is to enrich the life of the two cities and the wider world.

He further added that after the completion of the project, the experts from both varsities would take part in a two-day workshop which will be held in Chandigarh. The main focus would be on joint research projects which will include themes like sustainable cities and microbiology/ antimicrobial/ infection resistance. The project will witness both Indian and British expertise which would benefit the people of both the countries. The project will also figure out solutions to the bigger problems faced by both the countries.

An agreement with respect to this initiative was signed between Panjab University and Birmingham University in December 2015. Since then there were exchange visits to identify specific areas of cooperation.
Through parallel exchange visits, Birmingham researchers have been working with Panjab University and Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) in areas which include women’s cancer, public health, cyber security, advanced manufacturing and transportation to tackle common challenges.
