- The panel suggested that the cataloguing of answer sheets is a time-consuming process and it should be done by the officials itself.
Panjab University last week agreed to the proposal of reducing the time for applying result re-evaluation to 15 days from the release date of the exam result. An eight-member panel was set up by the Panjab University to arrive at a decision regarding re-evaluation period. The panel suggested that the cataloguing of answer sheets is a time-consuming process and it should be done by the officials itself.
The panel also recommended that examiners should not be allowed to carry the answer sheets for re-evaluation at their residence/ college/ departments. The answer sheets should be re-evaluated on the spot so that there is no delay in the release date of the result and everything is done in a proper manner.

In a meeting organised in January, Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examinations talked about introducing semester system in the undergraduate programmes. As per him, the semester system provides studies with the opportunity and flexibility to re-appear in all semesters. Hence, it is a very time-consuming process for the university to preserve such large number of answer sheets.
Due to which the panel recommended the varsity to align connectivity and to coordinate between the authorities concerned which will speed up the re-evaluation process and the same will be concluded in a specific time frame. The committee also made a suggestion that the answer sheets should be handed over to the concerned branch immediately for the early processing.
