Panjab University Plans to Conduct Offline Exams in July
Panjab University is gearing up to conduct offline exams for its final year students in July 2020. The university has asked students to follow only the updates released on the PU portal for any information about the exams.
Panjab University is planning to conduct offline exams for their final year students in the month of July. As per reports, the university released an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) on 8 June. In the said SOP, Panjab University has provided all of the guidelines to be followed while conducting the examination.
The decision of Panjab University comes at a time when the country is seeing an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and many top colleges and universities have decided to cancel their examinations.
Important Dates for Panjab University Final Year Exam 2020
The date-sheet of schedule for Panjab University final year exams to be conducted in July has not been released so far. The university has asked the students to follow only the news alerts released on the PU portal for any information about the examination.

Safety Measures in Panjab University Final Year Exam 2020
As per the SOP, Panjab University is following strict social distancing norms and is taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its students in the examination. Some of the measures included in the SOP are:
Social distancing norms will be followed
- 150 students will be allowed per session
Examination hall will only be filled to one-third (1/3rd) seating capacity
There will be a thermal screening of students before the exam
Proper sanitization and ventilation of the exam centres will be ensured
Students and staff members from red zones will not be allowed inside the exam hall
All of the staff members on exam duty have been directed to download the Arogya Setu app

Students Opposed to Panjab University Offline Exams
The university's decision to conduct offline exams in July is facing opposition from the students. As per the results of a survey posted by the Panjab University Student's Union (PUSU) on Twitter which saw more than 17,000 responses, around 90% of the students do not consider this to be the right decision.
Many students have also posted on social media against the university's decision. A student posted about Delhi University's decision to conduct semester exams online and asked why Panjab University was unable to do the same.
