PM Inaugurates 104th Indian Science Congress at Tirupati

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 104th Indian Science Congress at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati on January 3, 2017. The inaugural session was held in a grand manner which witnessed the presence of delegates from India and abroad as well as Union Ministers, Governor of Andhra Pradesh - ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister N. Chandra Babu Naidu.

On this occasion, Narendra Modi spoke on "scientific, social responsibility'. He emphasised that scientific, social responsibility is essential to connect all the leading institutions to stakeholders. Institutions of higher learning must give proper emphasis to research, and there is a need to strengthen R&D at par with international standards.
He further indicated that there is a need to inculcate scientific, social responsibility with corporate social responsibility to connect leading institutes which include schools and colleges to all stakeholders.

He insisted that sustainable growth is essential for the development of science and technology. Therefore, basic ideas must be transformed into startups and innovations so that inclusive growth is possible which will further lead to sustainable growth.
He exhorted that India will be among the top three countries in the field of science and technology by 2030. Science has to meet the rising aspirations of the people.
On this occasion, VC of University of Hyderabad Podile Apparao was also conferred with the prestigious 'Millennium Plaques Honour' by the Prime Minister for his significant contribution in the field of science and technology.
Students from various schools and colleges across the state displayed various exhibits related to science and technology. The Indian Science Congress will conclude on January 7, 2017.
