He said that he aims for establishing at least one medical college for each district of the country. The PM also made an important announcement regarding the fee structure of private medical colleges.
According to his statement, the fee of 50% of medical seats in private institutions and deemed universities for all the states and Union Territories would be made at par with the government institutions. This is a big announcement for NEET UG 2022 aspirants who cannot afford to go to private medical college despite merit.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has already released the guidelines to implement the new rule. A Fee Fixation Committee will be constituted at the state level for each state to determine the appropriate fee according to the recent mandate.
As per the Office Memorandum, the benefit of these seats would go to only those students who have got the seats under the government quota. As per the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, the NMC shall issue guidelines for determining the appropriate fee and other necessary changes for 50% of the total seats in the private institutions.
The NMC constituted these guidelines on the object of the act, i.e., the no-profit rules were strictly adhered to while formulating these. It means that the Fee Fixation Committee would not take into account the high profit-making factors. The fee must include all the other expenses such as operations and maintenance.
