PM Modi received a total of 150 suggestions on the first day itself after he urged the IITians to give him some suggestions for his speech at IIT Madras. The prime minister tweeted on Sunday, 29th September asking for suggestions on his official website. He especially asked the students, faculties and alumni for as he wanted suggestions from some of ‘India’s Biggest Minds.’

  • He thanks the IIT Madras supporting staff from cooks to cleaners to grant students an environment of advanced academics
  • He congratulates the parents who have made their sacrifice for giving their wards a secure future

An IIT Madras student suggested that PSUs should come to IITs for placements. He informed that he studies Aeronautics Engineering and wants to join PSUs such as ISRO or Air Force. He suggested that the PSUs should consider directly recruiting from the top IITs in India so that the students who aspire to serve the country can do that from a young age.

Another student wrote citing the same concern. He informed that the number of public sector companies coming to ISRO is very less. Only 2 students per year are taken by ISRO from Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department. He added the ONGC and IOCL come only after the main placements are over. An alumnus of IIT Madras aksed about what will it take to achieve the goal of 5 trillion dollar economy. Other popular questions which were asked by the students were about the nation-building through technologies like AI and Blockchain. Some people asked about preventing brain drain in India.

The Prime Minister is primarily visiting the institute to distribute the prizes to India-Singapore Hackathon which was the first of its kind international hackathon of India in collaboration with some other country. This was the second edition of the hackathon and PM Modi is going to deliver the speech after distributing the prizes among the students.
