PMC to Recruit 63 MBBS, 149 Specialist Doctors on Bond
PMC has decided to recruit doctors on bonds from government medical colleges in order to fulfill the shortage of doctors in its hospitals. At present, there is a shortage of 149 specialist and doctors and 63 MBBS doctors.
Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to hire doctors on bonds from government medical colleges in order to fulfill the shortage of doctors in its hospitals. The doctors will be hired to fill a total of 212 vacancies for MBBS doctors and specialists. The Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to pay them on par with the government hospitals of the city.
According to the reports, currently, there are around 18 maternity hospitals, 41 dispensaries, 1 General Hospital and 1 Infectious Disease hospital operating under PMC. The report further informed that there is a requirement of 212 medical professionals which includes 193 specialist doctors and 63 MBBS doctors. The recruitment will also help to balance the doctor-patient ratio.
The Director of Medical Education and Research (DMER) has given the approval regarding the same. However, PMC is yet to get the green signal from the civic body.

Dr. Ramachandra Hankre, Health Chief of PMC informed that the bond specialised doctors are paid Rs.52,000 per month. However, the are paid RS.72,000 per month by the state-run hospitals. This is the reason we have raised hike for them on par with government medical colleges/ hospitals. He also informed that the main of the PMC is to increase the number of resources and to provide patients with quality treatment.
The hiring of doctors on bond by PMC will not only improve the doctor-patient ratio but will also improve the quality of treatment and resources.
