The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has agreed to some of the demands of doctors protesting to postpone NEET PG 2023. Aspirants across India gathered at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Feb 7 to protest for NEET PG 2023 postponement. Through protests, aspirants wished to reach out to PMO and other official authorities and request them to postpone NEET PG 2023 exams.

Now, as per MoHFW directions, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has extended the internship cutoff date to 11th August 2023 and will also reopen the NEET PG 2023 application window on 9th February 2023. This is the second time that the internship cutoff date has been extended. The intial date was 31st March and it was extended to 30th June 2023.

In a notice, NBEMS said, “Desirous candidates who are completing their internship during 01.07.2023 to 11.08.2023 and are fulfilling all other criteria as prescribed in the information Bulletin of NEET-PG 2023 can apply for NEET-PG 2023 from 09.02.2023 (3PM onwards) to 12.02.2023 (till 11:55 PM). The applications can be submitted at NBEMS website https://natboard.edu.in”.

Earlier, Dr. Manish Jangra, the founder of FAIMA, tried to get a resolution on the NEET PG 2023 postponement matter through dialogues which couldn’t happen as the health minister of India was occupied with other tasks. Thus, eventually forcing FAIMA and students to take things forward and move towards protests.

We had predicted some possible outcomes after protests at Jantar Mantar. From the following, the 4th outcome seems to have won. Read further to know the previous updates of this news.

Outcome #1 - NEET PG 2023 Exam is Delayed

This is the ideal scenario where students’ postpone NEET PG 2023 exam demand is met and the test is delayed by 8 weeks. Thus, making the new NEET PG 2023 exam date to be in May 2023.

Outcome #2 - NEET PG 2023 Exam is NOT Delayed

In this situation, the officials of the health ministry do not accept the NEET PG 2023 postponement demands and conduct the exams on March 5, 2023 itself, as decided initially.

Outcome #3 - NEET PG 2023 Exam is Postponed to September

There is a possibility that the NEET PG 2023 exam might get delayed to September month as the officials have said that TCS - the exam conducting portal management - has no slots available between March to September for the NEET PG exams.

Outcome #4 - NEET PG 2023 Eligibility Criteria is Changed

Another possible outcome is that NEET PG eligibility criteria for internship is changed. In such a situation, aspirants will be able to appear for the exam on March 5, 2023, and wouldn’t have to drop out for the same. This outcome has already been applied in the Madhya Pradesh state where honorable high court gave an interim solution in favor of students.

Outcome #5 - NEET PG 2023 Exam is held Twice

In this situation, there is a possibility where general, eligible students can appear for the NEET PG exams on March 5, 2023, and the aspirants demanding to postpone NEET PG 2023 can appear for the test at a later date.

Any of the above-mentioned 5 outcomes could come out of the NEET PG 2023 postponement situation. Aspirants have been requested to continue their studies at any cost until a final decision has been reached.
