On Monday, Prakash Javadekar made it quite clear that the government has no plans on introducing a common curriculum for CBSE and state boards. The reason behind this is that a uniform syllabus would not be able to take into account the local contexts, culture and language.

Regarding the same, Minister of State for HRD Upendra Kushwaha said that the proposal to formulate a national framework which highlights core values will be put forward. Some of these core values are:

  • History of the freedom movement
  • Constitutional movements

Few states have already welcomed this national framework.

Prakash Javadekar, HRD Minister replied in a written statement that there was a need for more than one curriculum so that local contexts, culture and language could be taken into consideration.

Earlier this month, Prakash Javadekar has asked Super 30’s Anand Kumar to share some insights related to education with him. They discussed some of the loopholes existing in the current education system and how can they be corrected. One of the major suggestion by Anand Kumar was to remove the importance of class 12th marks while admitting students into top IITs and NITs.

Also, Prakash Javadekar will also be meeting directors of IIT’s to discuss with them about the issues concerning the funding of these institutions and the vacant faculty positions at the institutes. The government has been trying to add IIT’s and NIT’s in the global ranking list soon.
