Prakash Javadekar Extends his Support to KSOU

The Karnataka State Open University(KSOU) has got the support from HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar. The minister promised to give approval for non-technical courses. So far, KSOU was under the non-recognised universities list of UGC. Now it has got a sigh of relief with certain terms and conditions.

The KSOU was declared as an unrecognised university in the year 2012-13 by UGC as it had violated certain terms and conditions. The university violated the territorial jurisdiction by offering courses beyond the state. The university had collaborated with 250 institutes to offer courses.

Later, a petition was filed by the University to grant recognition of UGC. However, the condition of the university was deplorable, and students were unable to continue their studies. Most of the students faced job rejection by KSOU degrees. Recently, the education minister of Karnataka remarked KSOU as a corrupt university.

The Minister of Higher Education of Karnataka Mr. Basavaraj met the HRD Minister and discussed all the issues related to the university.

Prakash Javadekar took all the issues into consideration and promised that the final decision would come immediately. However, he clarified that the approval is given only for non-technical courses. He mentioned that the guidelines laid by UGC have to be followed strictly.
