In a meeting with 13 scholars from IITs, IISc-Bangalore and IISERs attending ‘In-Residence’ Programme' at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 23, 2016, the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee congratulated the students for their contribution to India, guiding them to address the challenges that our country confronts.

The ‘In-Residence’ Programme' at Rashtrapati Bhavan is a first of its kind get-together, where the President has met the top brains of the country on a wide scale. Under his guidance, a similar platform is arranged for writers, artists, grass root innovators, NIT students and inspired teachers.

Highlights of President of India's speech at the In-Residence’ Programme' at Rashtrapati Bhavan:

  • The purpose of the In-Residence programmes was to democratise the Rashtrapati Bhavan and open it out to the people
  • Repay society for the investments made in them through research, development and innovation
  • Asked them to demonstrate the indomitable spirit of youth to bring about change in the country as leaders of the new generation

He further went on to say that he wanted the people of India to be accustomed about the Rashtrapati Bhavan and added that educated persons from higher educational institutes are held in high esteem throughout the world. And stressed on the need to remain active & creative.

Smt. Omita Paul, Secretary to President of India was also present at the event and said engineers, scientists, doctors, lawyers and other professionals of India are a coveted lot that is being added to the growing pool of talent in India every year. As a result of which, the demand for these white collar jobs is always on the rise and will continue to do so in the forthcoming years. This is the sign of a healthy and progressive nation, she added.
