President Pranab Mukherjee Lays Foundation Stone for Bengaluru School of Economics

Foundation stone for the Bengaluru Dr. B.R. Ambedkar School of Economics will be laid by President Pranab Mukherjee on April 14. The foundation will be laid at a function organized in the Karnataka Vidhana Soudha.

Basavaraj Rayaraddi, State Minister for Higher Education, talked about the ceremony and said that they are grateful that their invitation has been accepted by the President.

The aim of Karnataka Government is to make this institute autonomous and raise this institute to international standards. The college has been approved by the State Cabinet and Rs. 150 crores will be released in the first phase of establishment.

The first phase of the establishment will comprise the setting up of the main administrative block, 3 seminar halls, student hostels and auditorium, accommodation facility for the regular faculty, etc.

Over 43 acres of land in Jnana Bharathi campus has also been allocated for the Bengaluru Dr. B.R. Abmedkar School of Economics. The development plan for the first phase is ready.

Rayaraddi also informed that the programmes offered at the institute, faculty and other facilities will be set up with the assistance of London School of Economics (LSE). A team from LSE had visited the city earlier and agreed to provide technical assistance for the college.

Retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Anup K. Pujari, retired IAS officer, has been appointed as the Special Officer of the Bengaluru Dr. B.R. Ambekdar School of Economics. Academic activities at the institute will begin from the session 2017-18.

The administration is planning to admit close to 50 students in the institute for the upcoming academic session. However, the decision regarding admissions is yet to be taken.
