Private Engineering Colleges in Telangana to Offer Vocational Courses
- Close to 20 private engineering colleges in Telangana approached AICTE seeking approval for vocational courses.
- A proposal has been sent to AICTE head for final approval, and the council has given its nod for these courses.
Private engineering colleges in Telangana will offer vocational courses from the next academic session beginning in June 2018. Over 20 private engineering colleges have approached AICTE (All India Council for Technology) seeking approval for bachelors in vocational courses and the diploma in vocational courses.
On April 25, 2018, AICTE officials convened a meeting with the management of private engineering colleges at JNTU Hyderabad. A couple of days back, AICTE has given its approval for these courses.

According to sources, private engineering colleges are keen to offer vocational courses in software development, paramedical, industrial development etc. The administration of these colleges have discussed the same with AICTE officials, and the proposal has been forwarded to AICTE head for approval. The technical institutes are also planning to launch job-oriented courses.
On the other hand, the state government has identified 14 thrust areas in its perspective plan of 2018-19 technical education such as construction technology, civil engineering, automobile, pharmacy, textile, granite and mining. The government wants courses in these areas to meet the requirements of the industry. The government will take a call in this regard soon.

Telangana government’s move to launch vocational courses is appreciable. These courses will provide enough employment opportunities to students. It is in the hands of colleges to attract more students for these course after the AICTE approval.
