PU Changes Eligibility Criteria for Few Subjects at Master's Level
Panjab University has come with a new set of guidelines regarding eligibility criteria for admissions to different master studies related women.
Panjab University has come up with a new set of guidelines regarding the eligibility criteria for admissions to different master's level courses related to women empowerment. These new guidelines are to be approved by the University's Syndicate in its meeting.
The University has proposed that subjects-wise weightage will be given to candidates who have already studied any of the women's studies course subjects at the undergraduates level for three years. These subjects are as follows:
- Women/Gender studies
- History
- Public administration
- Political science
- Economics
- Human rights and duties
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Geography
- Philosophy
- Gandhian studies

So, now for admission to Master's of Public Administration degree course, the students with other subjects like history will have to obtain 50 percent marks as against the previous 45 percent marks to qualify for the same. Earlier, students from economic, political studies, sociology, history and psychology subjects with 45 percent marks could apply for Public Administration, an inter-disciplinary subject.

Spreading over an area of 550 acres of land in Chandigarh, the University houses 78 teaching and research departments and 15 Chairs for teaching and research. 188 colleges are affiliated to the University.

The University has its own community radio station Jyotirgamaya: 91.2 Mhz, which is very popular among the students. The station broadcasts programmes for 10 hours daily on different topics related to education, social, health, cultural, environment and local issues. It is a good platform for interaction between the students and faculty members.
